Adult Formation

The community of St Mark is a thriving parish of committed adults and families with the need to continue to grow in our faith and spirituality across all age groups.  A continuing Adult Formation parish program responds to this need to grow.  The Adult Formation Team meets on a bi-monthly basis to plan and schedule appropriate Adult Formation opportunities to support the community.

We begin our new 2010 – 2011 Formation year with an Adult Formation session on Catechetical Sunday, September 19th at 1pm. We launch our new Adult Formation year with a focus on "Partnering with Parents" in the Formation process and the need for "lifelong formation" for our community.  We will also have sign-up for this year’s Bible Study along with parent registration information for those with children/youth in our Religious Formation program immediately following.

Bible Study/Sharing uses the Threshold series by Twenty-third publications (a thematic, self-contained Bible program for groups and individuals).  Bible Sharing – New Classes Forming on Tuesday Morning – 9:30-11:00 AM, starting in September and Sunday Afternoon - after 10:30 Mass, starting Sept 26th. Home Bible Study – if you’d like to join a group, but just can’t seem to make it every week.  Let us know what book of the Bible you’d like to study and we can order it for you.  It’s never too late to join a bible study group. Contact Religious Formation Office at 479-9897 or Florence Gaffrey at 467-5683 or email fgaffrey@cavtel.net for more information.

We will have a session for adults on "Parenting Teens" facilitated by our Youth Minister, Margie Russell, on Sunday, October 10th at 6pm at the same time as our High School Formation session.

Our first Full Community Gathering, where we gather as a community of all ages, will be Sunday, December 5th from 12:30 to 3:00pm. Our adult formation presentation will be related to the Season of Advent.

Our Parish Lenten Retreat will be conducted on March 13th and 14th from 7 to 9pm. We have Br. Elliott Maloney, OSB returning to share with us a reflection on the Lenten Season – more information to follow.

Our second Full Community Gathering, where we gather as community of all ages, will be Sunday, April 3rd from 12:30 to 3:00pm. We will have intergenerational stations to allow us to look deeper at our Lenten conversion experience.

As we have more events scheduled we will post them to this link. We hope you plan to join us as we continue to grow in our faith and relationship to God through Jesus Christ.
